Title: From Earth to Mars: Sparking Environmental Innovation

Pioneering a colony on Mars is the next grand challenge and audacious goal of the human race. From an environmental perspective, traveling to Mars and establishing a colony proposes many sustainable challenges. With limited resources available on the 6-8 month trek to and from Mars, how can water, fuel, an consumable resources be repurposed or reused to extend viability of human life? How can plants be grown on station for food or ambiance, or used to help prevent depression and anxiety of astronauts? Given the extreme conditions on Mars, how will agriculture cultivate, water flourish, or energy be cleanly generated in an atmosphere and environment so radically different from Earth? These questions are important to consider when developing simulations for the journey to Mars, as well as simulating a space port on Mars.

Christian will address our scientific understanding of such questions, and share the entrepreneurial essentials for sparking environmental innovation on the journey to Mars.

******If you RSVP and can not make it to the event, please unregister so we have a better count for the speaker and for ourselves. PeopleSpace provide free community education with the help from generous volunteers to present. Please be kind and take our time and effort into consideration.

Bio:

My motivation is a product of my world travels. Whether I have bartered in markets in Istanbul, provided clinical care in rural Nicaragua, or conducted research in the Peruvian Amazon, I have observed the harmful effects that our environment (physical, social, and economical) can have on human health.

These experiences influenced my fascination for strategic innovation and social entrepreneurship in developing solutions related to global impact in the fields of healthcare, sustainability, and the bio-based economy.

Having co-founded three impact-driven organizations, provided strategic marketing and business development consulting to 10+ for-profit and non-profit organizations, and traveled to over 50 countries, I bring a unique perspective to the table. I am fascinated with helping people and impact-driven organizations excel. Simply put, the status quo bores me, adventure excites me, and unknown frontiers exhilarate me.

I currently commit my energy to organizations that I believe will advance and transform the quality of health care through means related to sustainability, innovation, or education.
